OVERVIEW 

This position represents an exciting and challenging opportunity to be part of a private equity-backed market leader that is growing rapidly through the execution of organic growth initiatives such as national and local sales programs and an active add-on acquisition program. As a key senior leader, the VP, Procurement will be responsible for the entire procurement organization with a procurement spend of $300M ($130M in sub-contractor spend; $43M in trucks and equipment; $50M in materials; and the remaining in real estate and other miscellaneous spend. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record of developing, implementing and standardizing procurement processes at both a local and national level using digital supply chain tools and key performance metrics which have supported consistently high levels of success.

The VP, Procurement will report to the CFO or SVP, Finance and will work collaboratively with the Company’s other functional leaders including the SVPs of Operations and SVP of Sales.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Take responsibility for the performance of the Company’s entire procurement organization including its local branches;
  • Centralize the company’s procurement functions;
  • Develops quarterly and annual savings targets and plans in order to support the Company’s strategy and help it achieve its organizational goals;
  • Directs the implementation and execution of rigorous procurement policies and practices, including the RFP / RFQ process, supplier negotiation and supplier management;
  • Continually recommend and implement improvements to the Company’s procurement processes in order to generate year-over-year improvements in the company’s cost base and harmonize processes;
  • Know the industry and the suppliers;
  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers;
  • Establish data transparency, accurate reporting and develop annual savings targets;
  • Provide market strategies and pricing forecasts for the finance and operations teams;
  • Closely monitor productivity of procurement team members and make improvements to personnel as needed;
  • Ensure all procurement team members are following established Company operating procedures and that controls are in place to monitor compliance and contracting procedures of the procurement team;
  • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality;
  • Interface with operations to ensure client satisfaction is high, and;
  • Have a strong team focus and provide a work environment that promotes ONE DBi culture and engenders teamwork across the Company.


KEY OUTCOMES

  • Centralize the procurement organization and leverage spend to achieve annual savings targets;
  • Create supplier database and achieve data transparency;
  •  Continued professionalization of the procurement organization by moving from tactical procurement to strategic sourcing;
  • Implementation of detailed and standardized procurement practices across local branches and central team;
  • Commodity forecasting that has a high level of integrity and helps the Company manage its financial targets;
  • Continued development of a high caliber and accountable procurement team, and;
  • Involvement in thought leadership with the Senior Management team and as a contributor in Board meetings.


PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS

  • This position requires an executive who has a deep history of driving change across large organizations with a variety of stakeholders. It also requires the ability to set detailed strategic sourcing plans and rigorously manage these plans with metrics in order to ensure achievement of broader Company goals.
  • This role requires a demonstrated ability to develop and train a strong team of procurement personnel who provide a high level of support to the Company’s growth and profitability objectives.
  • Additionally, this person will demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the team, and have an inherent understanding of when to maintain concise, high-level discussions and when to drill deeper into the details.


More specific requirements include:

  • 10+ years of demonstrated leadership and vision in strategic sourcing teams for a major multi-site services or related company;
  • Strong background in managing nationwide sub-contract/service agreements;
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment and to drive the business with a high sense of urgency;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style;
  • Excellent verbal, analytical, organizational, writing and presentation skills;
  • Team and goal oriented, and;
  • Strong multi-tasking skills.


EDUCATION

An undergraduate degree (MBA is a plus)
