OVERVIEW

The Director of Supply Chain Management is responsible for leading the Supply Chain organization / initiatives.  Reporting to the COO, the Director of Supply Chain Management leads the procurement, production planning, inventory, and logistics / distribution efforts.  The Director of Supply Chain Management is responsible for the development and growth of his/her staff, as well as, performance evaluations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct the supply chain process which includes production planning, procurement, inventory, logistics, and distribution.

  • Works effectively across the organization to ensure successful execution of supply chain support on many integrated efforts

  • Develop and manage Materials Planning function for goods and materials needed for Company operations

  • Create integrated processes among Operations, Purchasing, Logistics, and outside suppliers to execute the planning/replenishment process.

  • Identify systems tools needed to implement planning/forecasting systems. Lead reengineering efforts as it relates to supply chain planning and execution systems.

  • Develops and implements logistics plans inclusive of supplier contracts, routing guidelines, problem resolution and cost containment.

  • Establish key performance metrics and benchmarks relating to supply chain planning/forecasting

  • Measure actual performance against goals on regular basis and present results to senior management.

  • Establish and maintain good relationships with vendors to insure they understand and meet or exceed our requirements.

  • Recommend Supply Chain Management strategic objectives and budgets that align with the company’s strategic business plan.

  • Develop efficient logistics / transportation networks for both incoming and outgoing shipments.

  • Manage inventory levels to attain operational and financial objectives.

  • Plan and direct production scheduling to ensure customer requirements are met or exceeded.

  • Leverage resources across the organization to grow capability to deliver sustained results.

  • Ensure resourcing and urgency in approach and in execution.

  • Reviews daily, weekly and monthly metrics / reports to manage performance and attainment of objectives.

  • Ensure resolution to issues slowing progress.

  • Key change agent for business process improvement.

  • Continual cost reduction and process improvement realization.

  • Establish and manage the attainment of departmental budgets.

Minimum Job Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities):

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Business, or Economics (Master’s degree preferred)

  • Minimum of ten (10) years of Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement experience, to include a minimum of five (5) years of supervisory or management experience

  • Supply Chain Management Professional Certification preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills required to effectively interact with all levels of Company management and staff, suppliers, and customers

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to interface effectively with all levels of Company management, staff, outside business contacts and customers

  • Demonstrated computer skills including database, spreadsheet, presentation, and word processing applications.

  • Superior analytical skills for the preparation of product demand forecasts, financial profitability of product and inventory management issues

  • Superior process improvement skills.

  • Proven ability to build and manage successful teams

  • Organized, flexible and easily adaptable to changing conditions

  • Ability to develop and successfully execute strategy

  • Ability to work well in high pressure situations in order to meet deadlines

  • Ability to deliver solutions on time and on budget, while generating superior results

  • Ability to combine expertise in material flow management with outstanding knowledge of information and financial aspects of the business.
