OVERVIEW

Green Bay Packaging, Inc. (GBP) is seeking a Senior Manager of Procurement for the Mill

Operations Group to facilitate all aspects of procurement activities between Maintenance, Engineering, Operations departments, and their suppliers.  From a strategic business perspective this position must focus on a steadfast commitment to implementing sourcing strategies to support divisional objectives and maintaining supply chain integrity, while working towards continuous improvement objectives.  This position will report to the Vice President of Mill Operations and have procurement responsibility for the Green Bay Mill and Arkansas Kraft divisions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with divisional management teams to develop and implement strategies for procuring, storing, and distributing goods or services while maintaining efficient stock levels

  • Identify qualified suppliers and initiate business and organizational partnerships

  • Manage contracts and lead contract negotiations with various suppliers including contracts for fabrics, capital purchases, waste hauling, energy, consumables, MRO, and contracted services

  • Perform risk management for supply contracts and agreements

  • Monitor business trends and product availability to ensure competitive pricing for goods and services without sacrificing quality or delivery times

  • Anticipate unfavorable supply or pricing events through data analysis and prepare contingency strategies

  • Assist in building and enforcing performance guarantees

  • Track and report key metrics to recognize opportunities to strengthen GBP’s Mill Operations Group position in the marketplace

  • Coordinate beneficial reuse strategies and lead cost and waste reduction initiatives

  • Refine and manage spare parts inventory management and obsolescence management programs

  • Develop and oversee process for warranty validation and enforcement

  • Develop divisional procurement support staff

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10 years of procurement experience

  • B.S. in supply chain management or business administration  

  • Proven working experience as procurement manager or equivalent experience

  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively deliver and reinforce consistent messages at all levels

  • Proven negotiation skills and understanding of vendor pressure points and market knowledge

  • Strong financial/accounting skills including P/L understanding

  • Experience in collecting and analyzing data

  • Ability to organize data and build solid information systems to support procurement activities

  • Talent in negotiations and networking  

  • Strong team player who can effectively work with others to meet objectives and timelines

  • Use of self-initiative and independence to complete tasks with urgency and meet deadlines

  • Aptitude in decision-making

In addition, the ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • 15 years of progressively complex procurement experience, preferably in a process industry

  • Demonstrated results managing projects within the triple constraints of scope, schedule, and cost

  • Certified Procurement Professional (CPP) certification

  • Demonstrated success negotiating large-scale and complex capital purchases

  • Proven track record of negotiating and managing MRO contracts, in a multi-site environment

  • Ability to effectively engage, manage, and evaluate vendor relationships and supplier performance
