OVERVIEW

The Estimator provides vital information by developing the cost information needed in order to determine if a proposed product will be profitable and to make bid for a contract.   

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create cost estimates and review cost estimates developed by others, organize and present results.
  • Prepares cost estimates by studying TDP requirements and other related customer supplied documentation.
  • Understands solicitation requirements and scope of work for bid.
  • Analyze supplier’s quotations to determine accuracy and best cost.
  • Identify and promote cost awareness.
  • Interacts frequently with suppliers to acquire quotations.
  • Interacts with Customers to acquire bid information, resolve questions regarding proposal and provide cost justifications.
  • Implements and/or initiates process improvements and supports lean initiatives at bid level.
  • Ensure compliance to applicable solicitation and contractual requirements.
  • Helps train engineers and other employees as necessary in support of estimating process.
  • Perform other tasks as requested or required to support the needs of the business

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in related field and/or equivalent experience is required.
  • Typically minimum experience: 3 to 5+ years.
  • Possess extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Strong customer service background.
  • Knowledge of Dept. of Defense manufacturing and contracting preferred.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with MS office.
  • Knowledge or ability to be proficient with the use of ERP software (Infor Visual software preferred).
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Knowledge of Quality assurance practices and procedures, including ISO 9001 and/or AS9100D Quality Systems.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
