Reporting to the COO, the Director of Operations will be responsible for directing all areas of manufacturing and operations of the Crazy Aaron’s plant through a team of functional managers and supervisors. The Director of Operations is responsible for the direction, coordination, and profitability of all plant operations. Specifically, the Director of Operations works with cross-functional teams to formulate and oversee strategic manufacturing, assembly, and inventory movement processes, capital improvements, and staff to guide the organization in maintaining and improving its quality, safety, and profitability while matching production with customer demand. Direct reports include the Warehouse and Manufacturing Supervisors, Technical Services Manager, and QC Manager.


  • Overall accountability for safety, quality, profitability and throughput of Crazy Aaron’s manufacturing and plant operations.

  • Provides strategic leadership and direction for all manufacturing, engineering, inventory, warehousing, shipping, and assembly operations that enable anticipated growth and profitability while maintaining flexibility and quality.

  • Solves day-to-day problems while strategically works to create long-term solutions.

  • Ensures compliance with all health & safety regulations and drives a focus of safety for all employees throughout all plant functions.

  • Ensures communication across departments, both within team and with outside departments, to keep operations running smoothly and efficiently.

  • Manages P&L for the plant and controls expenses effectively.

  • Works with Supervisors and Managers to build high performing teams by ensuring that they are hiring, training, cross training, developing and appraising staff effectively.

  • Reports to Management on operating costs within functional areas. Alerts management of any cost and labor over run. Makes recommendations and calculates ROI on capital investments.

  • Maintains ongoing analysis of key issues, projects, and objectives, and provides regular reports that include metrics to summarize the status and trends of key operational parameters.

  • Ensures documentation of process and formulas is accurate, up to date, and controlled.

  • Assures optimum utilization of equipment, raw materials and labor and tracks all of the above through data and analysis.

  • Insures the long-term operational health and viability of operations through proper maintenance and long-term capital planning.

  • Provides a platform that encourages increases in productivity and improvements in cost management by implementing department goals based on production metrics.

  • Continuously looks for areas of and works on process improvement throughout plant operations, which may include lean manufacturing initiatives, continues improvement activities, additional capital investments, automation, and/or process or staffing changes.

  • Works closely with other departments, such as Supply Chain and Sales, to ensure that operations are in line with customer demand and company needs.

  • Manages overall plant facility and works with Management and Property Manager for troubleshooting and facility upgrades.

  • Keeps up-to-date on information and technology affecting functional areas to increase innovation and ensure compliance; incorporates best practices throughout the plant.


  • BS/BA in engineering with advanced degree in business or management preferred. Ten or more years’ experience in a manufacturing plant or an equivalent combination of education and experience, with at least 5 years of leadership and P&L responsibility.

  • A demonstrated ability to lead people and cross-functional teams and get results to achieve business objectives.

  • Strong problem solver, with the energy to work on problems and keep operations moving, but the desire to strategically eliminate issues through process analysis and improvement.

  • Experienced managing budget with focus on improving profitability.

  • Ability to think ahead and plan over a 3-6 month time span.

  • Skilled at communicating effectively both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Company.

  • Works effectively and relates well with others including superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Company. Exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others and works to maintain constructive working relationships.

  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access).

  • Experience with ERP/MRP software, RF Scanning, and shipping/logistics software preferred

  • trong background in engineering and/or plant operations. Lean/Six Sigma certification expected.

  • Familiar with OSHA compliance procedures.
