Summary

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) must be an integrator who defines systems and

processes, manages staff day-to-day, and creates stability within the company. At ShipMonk, this key role is focused internally on employees, organizational design, processes, automation, and systems. The COO will lead in building the organization while maintaining “business harmony” by delivering exceptional people and process management. The position of COO must be a visionary to oversee the Company’s operational processes and to ensure superb customer experience.

 

Responsibilities

  • Understand ShipMonk products, services, pricing structure, and profitability targets in order to proceed with designing and implementing business strategies, plans and procedures.

  • Develop a strategic vision, operational plans, and efficient systems to achieve aggressive growth and company objectives (OKR’s).

  • Responsible for keeping operational excellence by maintaining customer SLA’s and exceeding customer’s expectations by offering exceptional service in all areas of warehouse operation.

  • Manage the capacity of the operation and provide long term planning to maintain alignment with sales and growth of the company.

  • Design a global network of fulfillment centers allowing small and medium-sized e-commerce companies to compete in the global market with larger companies. 

  • Understand the marketplace – competitors and our comparative niche positions; our value propositions in comparison to others, Adept at achieving financial/growth targets while enhancing customer experience.

  • Oversee daily operations of the company and the work results of assigned departments.

  • Establish policies that promote company culture and vision.

  • Responsibility over the entire supply chain and transportation, achieving reduced delivery times, and decrease cost of transportation.

  • Oversee daily operations and makes adjustments as necessary.

  • Executes business plan with full responsibility overachieving or exceeding P&L objectives.

  • Lead and manage employees to achieve maximum performance and promote dedication.

  • Evaluate performance by analyzing and interpreting data and metrics.

  • Write and submit reports to the CEO in all matters of importance.

  • Participate in expansion activities (investments, acquisitions, corporate alliances etc.).

  • Employ metrics, Lean methodologies and critical reporting to drive productivity, improve scalability, reduce costs, grow margins and streamline order fulfillment.

  • Cultivate and manage healthy relationships with strategic partners and vendors.

  • Oversee and prioritize the development of the WMS, WCS, and automation technologies across the network and achieve the highest possible cost reductions. 

 

Requirements

  • Master's or Bachelor’s degree in related management, logistics, manufacturing, cost accounting, or administration.

  • Previous experience as VP or COO in Logistics/Fulfillment or high volume, high growth e-commerce operations, overseeing 1000+ employees (Required).

  • Experience Scaling a business from $100M to $500M+ in revenue

  • Highly Data-Driven Mentality

  • Experience implementing large automation projects into the operation

  • Multi-facility management experience.

  • Experience in Six Sigma, LEAN manufacturing, PMP certification is highly desirable, Strong ERP systems experience required.

  • Excellent people management skills, business acumen, and exemplary work ethics, Managerial integrity.

  • Proven project and budget management experience with driven financial results.

  • Substantial experience with inventory management, fulfillment, and delivery.

  • Substantial experience with implementing and working with WMS or WCS.

  • Experience with facilities oversight including physical infrastructure, maintenance, employee safety and security.

  • Ability to lead and influence a diverse team during change, while maintaining cooperation, motivation and cohesiveness in a lean environment.

  • Ability to analyze data, interpret and apply legislation, develop systems and standard operating procedures, and manage risk based on data and statistics.

  • Experience meeting stringent compliance requirements.

  • Excellent reasoning and problem-solving ability (mathematical and otherwise).

  • Highly skilled with Google Spreadsheets, project management tools, tech, apps, etc.

  • Very good with numbers and cause attribution. You need to be able to identify when data is biased or simply wrong.

  • Good common sense, accurate estimation, and quick decision-making skills.

  • Good with spatial reasoning (helpful when thinking about logistics, supply chain, production, and products). You must be able to conceptualize maps and 3-D objects in your imagination.

  • Excellent problem solving and conflict resolution skills.

  • Straightforward and direct, a strong personality.

  • Stress management on an excellent level.
