The Procurement Manager will lead a team of Specialists and Sourcing Leads responsible for all procurement needs within the region.


Key Responsibilities: 

• Coaching, Managing, and Developing POST Team (Procurement Operations Support Team): Providing direction, coaching and development to sourcing leads and sourcing specialists.

• Relationship Management: Support the Division Presidents in influencing policy thinking provide timely responses proactively to ensure Division leaders can mitigate cost impacts. Also works with Division Presidents and VP GM/Ops Area Operations Managers to set priorities, identify and execute savings efforts.

• Field Visits: Set the tone and lead best practice ensure POST team is proactively engaging with the field on a frequent basis, driving compliance, cost savings and other efficiencies and ensure operations stakeholders are receiving a high level of customer service.

• Strategic Sourcing: Influence the GM Market Units and drive the application of a variety strategic sourcing models in line with the 7-Step Strategic Sourcing Process to deliver the most appropriate business outcomes. Ensuring appropriate coordination, system training, and collaboration across the business. Developing innovative initiatives and streamlining activity in conjunction with the business to reduce the costs per ton and/or per yard.

• Procurement Operations: Strong understanding of operations parameters and serves as a SME on the Way of Operating

• Continuous Improvement: Ensure the efficient operation of sourcing, contracting and supplier on-boarding as needed across the division for regional sourcing activities

• Facilitating Vulcan Way of Buying: Responsible for ensuring team drives engagement at the plant level with new process and technology for the Way of Buying within the division(s).

• Best Practice Sharing: Ensure Sourcing Lead is actively developing and tracking best practices within the region to share with other regional procurement sourcing leads on a frequent basis

• Spend Management: Responsible for building a vision on how the division should manage spend annually with monthly updates to division operations leaders

• Supplier Performance Management: Ensures team is actively engaging and executing various supplier performance management routines with suppliers and applicable internal stakeholders as needed. Ensures supplier performance improves in order to reduce total cost of ownership. Participates in Supplier Relationship Management in conjunction with Strategic Sourcing teams as needed



Qualifications: 

• Education: BS Degree or equivalent experience in field. 

• Experience: Minimum of 8 years’ experience in procurement leadership position(s) and computerized payables.  Strong knowledge of procurement practices is required. Experience working directly with senior management up to Division President level. Strong knowledge of aggregate, asphalt and ready mix operations and maintenance experience is preferred.

• Sustains personal energy, self-motivation and productivity

• Identifies and raises opportunities and/or challenges

• Understands methods to simplify complexity

• Proven ability to solve problems and to influence decision making
